THE
SAUCON VALLEY BOXER CLUB
MEMBER OF AMERICAN BOXER CLUB, INC.
Thank you for asking
me about Saucon Valley Boxer Club. Saucon Valley Boxer Club, Inc.
is a member of The American Boxer Club. For over 30 years the
club has been promoting the advancement of the boxer breed. Our
club usually meets in Zieglersville, PA, with the exception of
July and December. In July the club has a picnic and in December
we enjoy a Christmas party. We presently have over 33 active club
members that participate in therapy dogs, shows, training classes
and other club functions.
Here is a brief description
of what the club gets involved in:

- January, the club
has a booth at the K-9 Learning Expo at Ag Hall, Allentown, PA.
Each year a theme is picked and the members volunteer to work
a booth. This theme for 2005 was genetics.

- June, the club holds
a Match 'B' Show at Huff's Church, Barto, PA. Club members and
guests are encouraged to enter their dogs. It teaches them how
to handle a dog in the show ring, and the dogs learn what to do
in a ring and around other dogs. Prizes and ribbons are given
out, but points are earned at this type of show. Pictures from
2005. The club also does an educational booth in June for Quakertown
Pet Fair (sorry no pictures).

club held a learning meeting at one of the member's house. After
the meeting members and guests were invited to ask questions about
grooming, learn how to handle their dogs in the ring, and a small
mock agility course was set up for members to try (sorry no picture

- December, the club
again has no meeting because we enjoy a Christmas party at one
of our club member's house.
The club presently
has two members that have therapy dogs. Tiki that works at a hospital
where her owner works and Bingo goes to various locations.
To become a member
you must fill out an application and attend at least two meetings.
Your application is read at each meeting and after the second
reading club members vote on if they will accept you as a new
member. It is also recommended that you have the backing of two
members, however, this is not always necessary. To show that they
are active participating members it is encouraged that all members
volunteer on at least one of the committees that help keep the
club running smoothly. Once accepted as members' dues are $15
per individual or $20 per couple. I hope this give you some idea
about the club, but if you have any other questions, feel free
to contact me.
